Earth Advantage Commercial
While buildings under 50,000 square feet make up more than 95% of commercial buildings in the United States (Energy Information Administration, 2003), they tend to be excluded from uptake of third-party certified green building rating systems because of the steep related costs and the financial hardship imposed by long payback periods. The Earth Advantage® Commercial Program was established with the vision of bringing an affordable, alternative green rating system to the market, enabling small commercial buildings to obtain a thorough and accepted third-party certification. The Earth Advantage Commercial program is poised to become the
industry accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high
performance small commercial buildings. Earth Advantage Institute is seeking to
augment the number of pilot programs. If your proposed project is between
10,000 and 70,000 square feet, you may be eligible to participate. The program’s energy component may qualify participants
to receive financial incentives through Energy Trust of Oregon.
